Denenchohu/Jiyugaoaka

Overview

Denenchohu, which means "Garden City" in Japanese, was developed at the end of the Taisho Era (1924) when Japan has started exurban development.
Ginkgo trees are planted as street trees on the road.
Houses are surrounded by hedges and the flower of the season mirror the colors of the garden.
Denenchohu is one of the highest-classed residential areas in Japan.

Jiyugaoka is located in the south of Tokyo between Shibuya and Yokohama.
It is a busy shopping area on weekends.
People come to look for trendy shops, boutiques, gourmet restaurants and favorite cafes on each street side.
However, the residential area is just behind them and it is quiet.

Komazawa Olympic Park and the Tama River are close to the area and there you can enjoy a barbecue, sports, picnics, and other activities.
